K-on! Episode 02

In this episode, we get to see a little bit more of how spacey Yui is and the reasons of why the girls play the instruments they do. Yui gets attached to a guitar that she can't afford, and the other girls volunteer to get jobs together to help her pay for it.

Impressions: Not much to say about it other than the characters are still really cute without being annoying. They're starting to go a little more in depth about them, but I can't really see this being a deep anime or anything. It's light, and easy to watch, which is what I need some days.

K-on! Episode 01

Opening: Cagayake! GIRLS
Ending: Don't say "lazy"

Impressions: K-ON! is based on a five paneled comedy manga about four high school girls forming school club band. Keep in mind that I've never read the manga as I give my review. I found that the first episode has me kind of hooked. The story starts out with two girls Ritsu and Mio (mostly Ritsu, Mio sort of gets dragged along) trying join the "light Music Club" only to find out that all the previous members have graduated and is in danger of being shutdown. To keep it open, they must have at least four members to stay open. In her overbearing passion Ritsu manages to persuade Mio to join and at the same time they happen to acquire another member Tsumugi who was actually looking to join the choir club, but they still need one member and their end of the month deadline is fast approaching.

Yui is a girl that was never in a club in middle school because of her indecisiveness and it seems that she's in danger of repeating history yet again in high school. She, however, is determined that high school will be different for her and is still trying to decide...even three weeks later. It's around this time that she happens to see a flier for the "Light Music Club". And it goes from there...

Although the characters are stereo typical: You have your overbearing, and excitable character, your calm intelligent one, your quiet charming one, and lastly your klutzy, cute, well meaning one. I found it really enjoy able. Yes, it's cute and girly, but not enough that I would call it a guilty pleasure to watch, because so far it doesn't seem cheesy and junk food for the brain....so far.

So yeah. Light, fluffy, and girly.
